Hope this is the right spot to ask this........

My girlfriend has a BT Voyager 2500 router/modem, which is ethernet connected to her desktop, and wireless to her daughters laptop, (using an internal Broadcom 802 adapter). All works fine. Tried to get the desktop wireless also, and fitted a Linksys PCI wireless adapter. Seems to find the BT voyager ok, but when I try to put in passwords, etc. I come unstuck. The linksys demands either 64 bit WEP, wanting a 10 digit code, or 128 bit WEP wanting a 26 digit code. The WEP code for the Voyager is 13 digits. BT state that they can change the code on the Voyager to accomodate the Linksys, but then the Laptop wouldn't work, (cos the code would have changed). This makes sense to me, but is it true? They state that to go wireless, both computer ends have to have the same wireless gear? I find that a little hard to believe, and am seeking confirmation of this, unfortunately.
