Possible for who?
Law enforcement with the proper warrants could query the ISP.
The ISP logs (hopefully very protected) would be the only way that I know of.

It was a friendly but heated debate, so having first spoken to a friend of mine I gave this lad my friends IP address, ten minutes later using my home PC he came back with the name, address, post code of my friend, I was speachless but he's not letting on how he did it.

Did he download any software?
Check your Internet History to look for any relevant sites.
There is this for example:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp
I tested it with my own IP (which is not static) and the data was wrong.
Maybe depends on your ISP as well? I would be speechless too or else... perhaps too demanding.![]()
whois is a standard command but although it generally shows the ISP I've not known it to show client details.

No he didn't install any software.
Before he proved his point he said he would only do so if he had my permision to clear my internet history straight away.
My 16 year old claims he knows how it's done and wishes to prove the point to me as well, at the moment he finds my increduality amusing----he is also after an off roader-----it's almost worth it just to know, I'm itching to know and he knows it, the little s**t.

Windows has .dat files that store all Internet History.
You cannot delete nor view .dat files using Windows.
However one kind bloke wrote this little program:
http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=P...index.datsuite
With it you can View your Index.dat which will have all your History.
You guys have made me curious now....I really wonder how your friend managed to do that...
