I have no idea about computers :(
hi there, well, i posted a thread here, 'cuz kind of no topic suited this one, but definately, i want an XP win. I have no idea about comps and was wondering what all those numbers mean and weird letters (e.g 256MB DDR RAM)
I would much appreciate it, if u just helped me with finding a good comp, and when i go to a shop the people there, will say "oh yes this one is really good, you can do everything with it" but when i get home, i actually cant play games or w.e, you know, i just don't want to be tricked, with these buggers at computer shop :S :S :S
well i live in UK so i was kind of looking at sides, like COMET or PC WORLD, and i found this:
Intel Celeron 352 Processor
3.2GHz, 533MHz FSB
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
256MB DDR RAM
80GB Hard Disk Drive
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD RW Drive
Integrated Graphics
6 USB Connections
1 PCI Slot
15" TFT Flat Panel Monitor
its not the lowest price (£320) but there again its not the most expensive which means its not the best...maybe :S
aww! what those numbers meean, basically, i just want to play games, and go on the net :S
please help!
thank you!!

First off for a gamer the above specs are far from adequate.
Integrated graphics are not going to run high end games. Here you need either an AGP 8X card or better a PCI_E x16 card. You need a motherboard that supports this.
Next RAM is critical. 256MB is a bare minimum. Most gaming systems run at least 1GB (which is 4 times 256MB)
The above processor is not bad but it could (should) be better.
These are the three most important components:
1. CPU (processor)
2. RAM (memory)
3. Graphics Card
I would recommend :
1. At least 3.2GHz but preferably a P4 Prescott with HyperThreading if not the latest Dual Core models.
2. At least 1GB
3. A PCI_E x16 256MB Graphics Card
Here is a good general guide as to what is what inside a computer:
