    bought new computer...

I recently bought a new computer and I have a few ISSUES... to say the least...

    1. Accoring to add/remove programs I have 2 verison of AOHELL on my computer, when I try to uninstall it says "no installed versions of AOL could be found on your computer" so my question is... how the heck do I get it off then? I guess same goes with AT&T's free trial, and EZFirewall free trail that are not listed in the add/remove programs.

    2. I guess Ill have to admit I am a Sims 2 addict to get this problem solved. As anyone who plays the game, know that there are 4 cdroms to get the game loaded. I am having problems with doing so, and I dont know what to do. Sometimes when I try loading the game I only get as far as the 2nd disc, but then sometimes I have gotten as far as the 4th, before the program no longer responds.

I have absolutely no problems watching DVDs or anything else, if that helps whom ever responds, thank you in advance.

    k

alright, i would call AOL and talk to them as far as the install and uninstall methods of their browser. Same goes with every other browser. I would highly recommend Comcast as an ISP, but thats just me. As far as the Sims 2 problem goes, i have no idea, sorry if i didn't help at all.

    Welcome to D-A-L katannde

As to removing the programs follow these manual steps:

    Uninstall Programs Manually

Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.

    *

Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory.
    *

Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es, locate and delete the service.
    *

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]

If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
    and delete the entry.
As to the SIMS: What exactly happens? Any error message? What happens when the program no longer responds? Can you still use the computer?

Look in your Event Viewer: Start/Run/ eventvwr

Look under the Application tab for errors or information linked to the SIMS application.

Also check the System tab for any coincidental errors.

THANKS JEPHREE DELETING FILES FROM THE DIRECTORY SEEMED TO DO THE TRICK!

I have looked in the eventvwr under the application tab like you said, only problem is that its my first time ever seeing that and I didnt really know what to look for. I didnt see anything with "sims" on it directly.

When I try to load the sims game... I put in the first cd, asks for english or spanish, i choose english, then goes for the product key... enter that, asks me if i want to register the product now or later, i choose later.

then it starts to download from the first disc, and every time has done just fine, then asks for the second disc, i press ok for it to start downloanding and it makes noise for a minute like its starting to take the information and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt because i have gotten all the way to the 4th disc before the computer stops loading the information.

when i notice that it isnt taking the information from the cd i hit cancel for the program to stop. and the mouse goes into the clock and sits there until i go to the task manager and end the task.

    hope that info helps...
