having just bought a toshiba laptop i realised i dont know how to use the dvd re writer would appreciate any help from anyone thanks

What is it exactly that you are trying to do?
Are you running XP?
Any additional disk burning software?
Basically you can right click almost any file and choose send to: Drive (DVD drive letter).
Or on the left menu of Windows Explorer choose write these files to CD. etc.
