So my girlfriends buddy built me a computer.....here are the specs....

1.2 ghz Athlon Duron
40 gig Western Digital Harddrive
256MB ram

I dont know what any of that stuff means but I know its better than what I used to have and all I use this thing for is to surf the net and chat on AIM. Sooooo it works great when I first turn it on but if I keep it on for an extended period of time....never more than 3 or 4 days by nature.....it starts to slow down big time. I've done the spyware sweep and the virus sweep and everything comes up clean. I just don't know what else could be causing my system to slow down. Leaving my old ones on for prolonged periods of time never had this kind of effect earlier than a week or so. Anyone have any suggestions???? I'd love to hear.....

it depends how much you use your computer.

Mind you i can leave this system on for weeks without it slowing.

Yah see I work at Best Buy and I talked to one of my buddies on the Geek Squad (shameless plug) and he suggested that maybe it's overheating a bit. And as for how much I use it.....ehhh once in the morning for about 20 minutes.....and maybe 3 or 4 times at night for about 20 minutes each time to chat on AIM and visit my regular websites.
