Sorry if this shouldn't be in this forum, but I couldn't find a relevant place for it...

Anyway, for almost a week, my internet has been extremely slow. It takes me about 5 seconds to load google.com, and the highest speed I can get when downloading something is 15kb/s.

I am on a wireless network, but I don't think the problem is with that as both the speed and signal strength are at the highest they can be.

I once had a similar problem with my ISP before, my internet was really slow (slower than it is now), but that only lasted for a bit over a day.

I just did an online connection speed test and here are the results:

Communications 146.8 kilobits per second
Storage 17.9 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 57.1 seconds

Do you think it is worth contacting my ISP?

Hmm. There is 3 pcs running on the network, so I thought maybe it might be because they are all using it at the same time. I thought that might be slowing it down. So I turned off my PC and went downstairs to try the other one and, to my suprise, it loaded websites instantly. So I turned this computer on again, tried to load a few websites once it had loaded, and they all loaded almost instantly.

I did the online connection speed test again and this is what it says:

Communications 862.6 kilobits per second
Storage 105.3 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 9.7 seconds

Then I tried downloading a file and it the connection speed was at 115kb/s.

It seems that turning off my computer has fixed it. I'm quite confused by this. Anyone know why this might have happened?

tried resetting your modems, turn them off fo atleast 5 seconds as theres a tempory storage making it run slower the longer you leave it on. let me know if this helps or not.

DJDK, do you know which modems/systems do this? This is good info!

im not sure which ones in particular, a lot of the modems that you plug straight into the wall socket do. modems powered by usb switch off automatically when you shut down or restart the pc, i dont think the modems powered by usb have this tempory memory any way.

i learnt about that tempary memory on TV. who said you dont learn anything from TV???
