I installed the Lord of the Rings game on my sons computer. When you run the game it will give the error, "error attaching to d3d8.dll" I downloaded the dll and then placed it in the system file like the read me file said. Please help.

is this an installing error or after you installed? does your system meet the requirements for the game?

Sound like you're saying that the error occurs when running the game after installing it? Did you reboot after the install?

Definitely check the system requirements as C0oLl2iCeF0o suggests to make sure the PC is up to it.

I believe that the DLL that it is referring to is for Direct3D in the DirectX 8.0 package. Have you got a reasonably modern graphics card with drivers that can handle DirectX 8.0 ? Did you notice DirectX 8.0 being installed? Might be worth going to the Microsoft site and downloading an install of the latest version, DirectX 9.0a: http://www.microsoft.com/directx
