    Exclamation ~High-Ping/Latency-Problem~

    Hello DAL peoples,

I'm new to PC gaming so I don't know the tricks of the trade yet. But whenever I go online, lets say Counter Strike Source, I'm always getting kicked because my ping does not meet the low requirement. I don't know why I'm having connection problems because have a really good connection to my ISP http://www.speedtest.net/result/486654543.png. I have more than enough in PC resources D-A-L Computer Hardware Scan Results (Cable modem+router). Is there anything I can do to lower my ping/latency? I can't get any better resources.

    Also,
Is there a way to tell where a server is located? I've noticed a big difference in latency rate when connecting to a European server, I guess its there because of the people chatting in french, lol. I'm in the US.

P.S. I have researched this issue and I found some useful videos telling me to lower my rates. But when I lower my rates next to my name or tag it states something like "(Low rates! dn_kredible)" and they say I'm a cheater.

Basically depends on your ISP and the server. Not much you can do.

    Are you using Steam?

Steam usually lists servers by their ping in respect to you.

Do you not get any at the top of the list under say 100?

Also is this a new issue? Were things better previously?

Is it the same on all games?

Have you run a fresh Internet search, via Steam, of Servers?

I think you can get the location of the server in Properties but I don't have my gaming system booted up at the moment.

I also note in another thread you posted that turning off your firewall helped?

Just to add my personal usage which I am sure many would disagree with but when I game on Steam I turn everything else off on my computer.

No firewall; no anti virus; no internet; no other programs.

I've never had any problems as such with Steam servers and or my computer.

Depending on the game I usually get at least a dozen servers between say 40 and 70.

My firewall (ZoneAlarm) has a game mode, but I shut it down along with NOD32 antivirus and it seemed to help with about 10-20 latency, which is a substantial difference. Just I see some people with 5 latency and I'm like 400 and it pisses me off. Like I can connect to CCS "servers" at 150ish latency, which is fine, but Crysis "servers" would be like 500ish.
