    DDR2

400-MHz (PC2-3200) and 533-MHz (PC2-4300) are the speeds you can use. You want to try and match what you already have.

    Try this scan:

I don't know. Did you try that scan?

The Dell manual does not specify the pin configuration but it could be either 240 or 168. If the board is 168 DO NOT try to use that RAM.

If the board is 240 then the speed is a factor. Dell says: 3200 or 4300 and you got 5300.

This might "throttle down" to 4300 but I can't say for sure.

Try that scan I posted. It will at least tell you the pin configuration.

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.* thats from the scan so im assuming that this is compatable

400 and 533 Mhz is the RAM frequency, people usually pick the higher one as it performs better. Keep in mind that if you decide to upgrade again in the future, you have to pick the same frequency as well or it might cause conflicts.

"ECC" is Error Correcting Code. If I'm not mistaken, some RAM sticks have an extra chip that is called the ECC. It typically lessens the performance and is more commonly used in Servers and such.

My memory and knowledge could be rusted and wrong, so if it is incomplete or incorrect please do correct me Jephree lol.

    Yes.

That board only handles 1GB per slot.
