    Computer crashes/loses power during game

I've seen several posts on games crashing while playing, and I've had that problem, too. But now my computer freezes up for a second, then completely shuts of (as if suddenly unplugged). I thought it might have been my KVM switch, because when I restart, it gives a "keyboard not found error". I since have discovered that the USB plugs don't seem to work until the computer has started up, so it doesn't "see" the keyboard when rebooting from this crash. If I leave the keyboard in the PC instead of the KVM I still crash, but don't get a keyboard error on reboot.

Any ideas? I am on my 3rd video card now, as I thought it might be that (been going on a long time). The problem only arises during games (went through the first 2 video cards when I used to play World of Warcraft). Now, I've reinstalled Neverwinter Nights and played for a few hours with no problems, but seem to crash every few minutes, now. I guess I got to a graphics intensive part of the game? I've tried lower resolutions and higher resolutions, changing the graphics options in the game, etc. It still craps out.

    My system is:
    Motherboard: Asus A7N8X Deluxe
    Processor: AMD Athlon 2200+ 1.8ghz
    Videocard: GeForce FX 5200
Hard Drive: Western Digital 60gig 7200rpm

    Thank you for the help.

do you know the spec of your power supply? it might be possible that if its on the limit, the graphics card taking a bit extra power could be maxing out the psu??? just a thought..

Sorry for the delay. My power supply is a Dynex DX-PS350W (350 watt). I also got the video card specs wrong (I was at work and guessing); it's a GeForce 7800. I'm in the process of updating the driver now (not that I think that will help, but it's worth a shot). I'm guessing that the power supply might be buggy by your question. It was used; given to me by my brother-in-law when he upgraded. What is your suggestion for what I need in this machine?

    Hi,
Go to this website: eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5
You put in the specs of your machine and it tells you how many watts etc. Obviously get one with a bit of headroom from what it says.
Did the driver update do anything??

Nope. Not a thing. I just bought a 500 watter and haven't had a problem, yet. Fingers are crossed. Thanks for the help!
