PC problems... I have no clue, please help!

2 days ago my dad completely reinstalled my pc, and added a new video card. Yesterday I could test it, and everything worked fine (all games just played smoothly and without any problems).

Now I'm home and it my pc acts very weird. I was playing Medieval 2: Total War, and suddenly (after playing 2 hours) it crashed to desktop. So I launched it again, and after 10 minutes my pc shut down and launched again... Then I couldn't move my mouse and shut down my pc, but when I tried to launch it again, the pc lights light up but my screen remains black (my screen says: "going to sleep", and then turns completely black)

And I still can't get it working...

    Any comments, please???

No that's not the problem, as I said I have used my pc yesterday whole day, and without any problems.

Though I only played Medieval 2 yesterday evening, and then it crashed. So I'm thinking that game is somehow the problem, because 1 week ago my pc crashed too, while playing Medieval 2 for 5 minutes, and resulting in a broken videocard... But on the other hand I don't think it was Medieval 2 1 week ago because then I also just put in a new hard drive, and I might have caused a short-circuit (correct english?). That's not sure tough, but we couldn't find any other explanation.

Anyway I always tought it might have been the game but people say games don't crash pcs

thank you we're all volunteers on here and enthusiasts

you realy need more RAM the extra is maybe 68MB, you've maybe got 256MB and 512MB (total 768MB) sticks of RAM.

you may also be having problem with hard drive space.

Well the problem shouldn't be the RAM, because I play BF2 aswell, which also recommends 1GB, and it plays just fine (never had any trouble with BF2). But I've to admit RAM is a possibility.

And like I said I have plenty of free hard drive space. After the installation of Medieval 2 I had 9GB left on the drive I've installed it on, and 3GB on the other drive. (I know I ain't got very large hard drives, but it's enough)

I already decided to completely remove Medieval 2 and never try to play it again, it just brings me bad luck and gives a bad feeling

But the main problem remains: How can I get my pc working again?
    The other problem: What happened?

it needs 11GB of hard drive you've only got 9GB you can't count the other 3GB

No no no no! I tought I explained it well enough... I'll try to explain one last time (lol) : I had 9+11=20GB free space. After installation I had 20-11=9GB left. Can't make it any clearer

+ Lack of space don't crash computers, and prevend them from launching, right?

All the requirements are easily met... (except the RAM, but I passed minimum and other games which require 1GB work fine)

I talked to my father tonight and he thinks it's the same damn problem as before. He says it's just Medieval 2 that crashes my pc. There's no other explaination. My former pc was working fine and crashed (broken videocard and motherboard (is that how you call it?)) and now my new one crashed also while playing Medieval 2, and he's afraid again those hardware are broken

This really f*cks up my holidays...

a PC game shouldn't do any damage to the hardware.

can you boot into safe mode, have you tried a system restore?

have you completely removed medieval 2?

I would still check all connections
