A little help

Re: A little help
I have cleaned my computer, and normally it just freezes, sometimes it will send an error report.
Bioshock is really good, its just a shame i couldnt admire all the amazing graphics properly. But i definately reccomend it.
As for stalker, I like the concept so far, but havent really got past the first few minutes of game play yet, so cant really tell.
I might buy some new games, but not untill my comp stops crashing. I cant play anything, not even older games like Dark Messiah.
Ill look into graphics cards then. A friend of mine suggested it might my PSU, its only 300 watts. Do you think it could be a power problem?
-
300 Watts should be fine for your current card (assuming it is working as it should. The PSU I mean).
Newer cards do take a bit more power but that all depends on how high end you want to go.
Is your slot AGP or PCI_E?

Open Everest again and got to Devices > PCI devices
You should see your graphics card there.
What does it say for Bus type?
Also can you get a more exact model of HP? Pavilion 061 doesn't get one too far.

Bus Type is PCI.
HP Model: m7350.uk

This one:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=us
That has a PCI_E slot:
One PCI Express x16 graphics

If that is your computer you can get a really good card in there. I am surprised it only has a 300W PSU but that should be OK with most mid-ranged PCI_E X16 cards.
-
Ok. Can you suggest a card?
I just dont know enough and dont want to spend too much on something that will be too good, not good enough, or not compatible.
edit: yea that is my pc

I'll post some ideas in a little bit. After dinner.

Thank you. And no rush or anything
Enjoy your meal.

I use Newegg's site because they have a great search and filter system.
Your current card should be something similar to these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=Radeon+X1550
Or these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=Radeon+X1300
I wish I knew exactly what you have already.
Anyway it is important to note that most of the above have TV out as well as monitors and since your computer mentions TV: HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7350.uk Desktop PC
I assume that this is an important feature? Just to keep in mind when looking at upgrades that they have TV out. Not all do.
Anyway I am going back out to the main page for Video cards:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...CI+Express+x16
You see on your left all the options you can start to filter with. I am first going with nVidia over ATI. Personal choice:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...48&name=NVIDIA
Next I am going EVGA. Again a personal choice:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...0548&name=EVGA
Next I would choose my price range. What is yours? Your present card is about $50 - $100 US. As we are upgrading I'll say $100 - $200:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...24100+-+%24200
I see some nice cards there put they all have dual DVI ports and I'm assuming your monitor is D-sub. This is a smaller blue plug and port than the wider white DVI. You can get adapters for this as on option.
Here you see in the GForce 6 series the smaller blue D-sub ports along with the DVI. However these cards are no better than the one you have:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Force+6+series
This looks interesting:

Anyway take a look around. Click on specific cards and read the reviews.
Also try other brands. XFX has some really nice cards:
