I have played games on my pc for three years. All my games are original and not copies. I recently re-installed XP Home and have been unable to play any of my games. I get a message asking me to "Insert Correct CD" when I know the correct CD is in the drive. I have tried several forums but to no avail, I have tried several suggestions to correct this but none work. Please help,

Did you reinstall all Windows Updates including SP2?

Try: Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off

Uncheck: Use fast user switching

Yes I Have installed SP2.

What will this achieve and why.

I only ask as I am intrigued.

All I did was put "Insert Correct CD" into Google and quickly browsed a few hits.

The suggestion regarding "Fast User Switching" came up more than once as a possible cause of the error you receive.

I have just loaded COD2 and had the Insert correct cd message.

Any other suggestions.

well are the cds all scratched mabye xDDD bad house keeping :P ok am gettnig serious here try to insert music cds or somthing else to check if the fault might be in your cd/dvd drive not in the cd's

Can play Music CDs and DVD no problem. Have checked all drivers and have tried many other suggestions and Googled for it and have tried all suggestions there.

Am completely foxed on this. It would appear no one knows how to overcome this.

a. The please wait while the program name CD is verified message is displayed,
b. The program may stop responding (hang) or seem to hang,
c. Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application message is displayed,
d. CD not found message is displayed,

I have been on to my motherboard website and downloaded the latest nForce2 drivers.

I still get the message.
