Battlefield 2142 - massive frame loss
Nothing but stupid problems. Ever since I installed the new PSU and case, Battlefield 2142 has run like ass. What does a new PSU and a case have to do with gaming performance? Nothing at all, even though the computer is much cooler than before with a lot more ventilation and airflow. I've tried everything to solve this.
Constantly, and I mean constantly, I get massive video lag in the game. Mostly happens in Titan mode, making the entire mode unplayable. Frames just suddenly drop down from 60, 50, 40, all the way down to 10, 5, etc. Massive video lag and it can last anywhere from 5 seconds to 15. Sometimes it'll even persist until I'm forced to quit the game. As well, when the frame loss attacks, the sound becomes a bit choppy and is accompanied by 'popping'.
Battlefield is not even the most intense game I play. I have absolutely no problems with anything else. As well, since now I've turned down all the settings to Low, the game runs as well as it looks: horribly.
I've read about the problem it has with dual-core CPUs, but I've seen no improvements/difference in running the game normally or with only CPU0 through a change of affinity.
As well, I have installed newer Nvidia drivers, 94.24. No improvement at all, even though the card is overclocked at 550/1100. I've tried the CPU at 3.2 and 3.46GHz. No difference. Updating Punkbuster has made no difference either.

Had 2 questions for you. Do you only get frame loss on Titan mode? and if so does this only happen when you are on a titan? It has dropped drastically since the game went live but people used to spam the Titan AA guns firing at the opposing titan which caused horrible lag for everyone. Dropped fps drastically and cut sound out. I would recommend though that because BF2 and BF2142 are memory hogs that atleast another 512 of ram would do wonders for the game.

Seems to have been fixed up now. Did a couple memory tweaks in regedit and reset my pagefile. I'll let my system take care of it automatically. I guess that did the most difference. I'm back to using my old graphics settings and managed to push them up a few notches as well
