Question! I don't know what title is apropiate but..please read

Hi.. I was wondering, how can computers from a LAN center doesn't need their game CD to play certain game?

For example: I play Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, and I need to have the game CD always with me whenever I want to play. I go to the LAN, every single of their computer has the game and never requires the CD to play it. And the games seems to be original as they can play online. I wonder how they do that?

Because I really like to do that myself too, I have two computer in two seperate room. I don't like taking the CD with me because sometimes I forget to take the CD out from one computer and to put it on the other one. And if I forget, then i need to turn the computer that I don't suppose to want it on, On. So it is pretty inconvenient. The worst choice is to buy another game but I know you guys have some answer to my question.

    Thank you DAL

I don't know about this search man, I look through it alittle bit and it seems to be ilegal what they talking about. i.e.: no-cd crack. Thats what I see, I do't think the LAN centers are using that cuz as I know no-cd crack cannot play online games.

I used to have a setup where I had windows media edition on a pc that I used as a server pc. All the programmes and games were installed on there. The other computers in the house could access the games and programmes using remote desktop. I think that for some of the games the disk had to be in the server pc though.

Well i know of a big lan center in the middle of my town and i know that it uses the DaemonTools device that allows them to create "images" of the play disks. By doing this the program is creating a virtual drive whereby there is an image file stored to duplicate the use of a real physical disk. Other programs can do this also such as Alcohol 120% whereby you can Mount and Unmount the images onto your hardrive. Once you mount an image it will boot up as if the disk itself was inserted into the drive. Quite useful when you have a lot of games but not a lot of space.

I cannot copy the files required to run the game from the game disc and paste them to somewhere and then just let the game loads from there?

Some games don't allow that because they detect where the data is coming from. I think the better option is to do a cd image and load it from your HD.
