In september I bought a new laptop/desktop. I just bought Half Life 2 & Counterstrike Source but I always have some kind of crash!
I start the game, begin playing, everything's ok. But a few minutes later the problem begins:
- The screen freezes
- The sound's also stuck!
Can't do anything but rebooting.
There isn't even any error. Just hl2.exe Not Responding.
Hopefully someone can help me with the major problem!
Everything is updated: drivers, windows, etc....

My Desktop

Windows XP Home
Intel Core Duo 2GHz
1GB RAM
100 GB HDD
ATI Radeon Mobility X1400

Have the same problem with my personal computer:

there are a number of things that could be wrong....
When the game crashes it could result from a bad sound card...

some geusses to fix your problems would be to:

1.download the latest version of directX - directx 9.0c - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/s...n&categoryid=2

2.Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes:
Process SYSTEM.INI File
Process WIN.INI File
Load Startup Items

What sound card do you have?

Obviously somthing you have on both computers is conflicting with hl2 causing it to crash.

Send an e-mail to someone of steam and got an awnser back with some solutoins, tryed them all and now it seems to work again thanks for all your help guys!
