I've been reinstalling my whole system, and everything seemed to be running fine.

I got out my came discs, and installed the Sims 2 and University. The installation went fine. The problem arose when I tried to play it.

I'll open the game, and the first title page will appear, disappear, then a few seconds later the screen goes blue, like it used to when the game was loading. But it only lasts 3 seconds, then it pops right back to my desktop.

I'm running out of windows 98, I have an ATI radeon 9600ish graphics card (sorry, I'm not at MY computer), and I think I've successfully installed all the necessary drivers that win98 didn't come complete with.

What is wrong, and how can I fix it?

So this game worked on this computer before?

Did you try just installing and playing Sims2 before adding the University?

The game worked before I had a new hard drive installed and reinstalled all of windows.

No, I did not try running Sims before installing University, but I have uninstalled University, and I still can't get it to work. So it can't be the CD problem.

EA techsupport has yet to respond. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling? It is a 4 disc game, so I was reluctant to do that.

The only other issue that I am familiar with is installation issues where it has been advised to copy the CD's to your hard drive and install from your hard drive.

I do not know if this will help in your situation.

Perhaps another member will have other ideas.

No dice. Everything installed just fine, and the computer sounded like it was working harder than before, but still, all I see is my wonderful desktop. Hopefully EA answers me soon. If anyone can help me, I'm getting a little desperate here!

I went to EA for more support, and I've done a couple things, like totally wiping any trace of the game off my system and reinstalling, moving the save file to a new location, and who knows what else. This is the third time I've installed this game this week. Clearly there is some bad connection between my computer and the game files, but it beats me if I can figure out what that is! If you have more suggestions - I'm open.

Don't have anything myself off hand but I will keep looking around and maybe someone else might have an idea.

During installation have you closed all other programs including anti-virus?


Does EA confirm that this game will run on '98?
