    Re: Sims 2 won't run

    I ran it before on win98, and the game needs 95 or newer.

    I don't have antivirus because that comp is not connected to the net, but all other programs were closed. I've pretty much been focusing on this entirely for a few days.

    I don't know if this helps, but this is the thread of 'help' I've been getting from EA.

    http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...allorg=1&skin=

    If that doesn't work, I can copy parts of it, but it's a long thread.

    hi,
    now you have installed your new hard drive does your system meet the system requirements of sims 2?
    [sys requirements]
    Maxis has released information on the system requirements for "The Sims 2." If you have a T&L (info about what T&L is below) capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM (such as nvidia GeForce 2 or better or ATI Radeon 7000 or better) then you need at least:

    * 800 MHz processor
    * 256 MB RAM if Windows XP
    * 128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
    * At least 3.5 gigs of free hard drive space
    [sys requirements]

    Hi

    I've been talking with the EA guys about this one. I have the minimum requirements, but just barely. They seem to think that 98 isn't good enough for their game. I'm also having a slight problem locating an inactive graphics driver (the onboard one) to deactivate, so that my ATI card can run, as they think that might be interfering.

    If anyone has tips, that would be great, but I realize it's probably material for another thread. Don't have time anymore.
