    Computer re-starts by itself

So that`s it. It happens when I play MapleStory, I double click the icon, the program does its usual stuff and then the computer re-starts. The weird thing is, it was working just fine some hours ago.

So I found this forums and read about someone having a similar problem. I went ahead and did the first steps. I disabled automatic shut down, and when I ran MapleStory the dreaded blue screen reared it`s ugly head. The error was this one

    STOP: 0x000000BE(0x804E2890, 0x004E2161, 0xBA9DFB0C, 0x0000000B)

I don`t know what the hell that means, but something else happened. The system could not dump anything, it just hanged there, i guess that`s pretty bad, isn`t it? I had to reset from the blue screen.

Any help here would be appreciated. I`ll probably take a while to answer back, so don`t forget about me :P

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Otherwise uninstall and reinstall your Graphics Drivers.

Reinstalling the graphics drivers didn`t worked. Just figured that the system restore points were desabled, for some reason. So i`m stuck with this configuration. To Install correctly my graphics driver I need to uninstall first from the control panel, right? Just making sure i`m doing this stuff right.

I did got a memory dump this time. Turns out it was a mini dump and it did it so fast i didn`t even noticed :P Now i got a full dump.

    Did you try System Restore?

You need to uninstall the old drivers first yes. Are you sure that you have the correct driver?

What is your graphics card or device? Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc | Display adapter

If your only problem is with Maple Story then it is either the driver or DirectX.

You can get the latest 9.0c here:

    1) I tried using the restore points, but when I ran the aplication it told me it was desabled. So I enable it, but it really didn`t help much since being desabled, it didn`t had any restore points saved.

    2) My graphics card is a GeForce FX 5200 and it`s driver version is 9.1.3.1. If you can point me to the latest driver if that isn`t, it would be great.

    3) Just checked what DirectX i have installed and it is 9.0c

I`ve been looking around for others with this problem, and I have the impression it is a problem with GameGuard, the program used by MapleStory to prevent hacking. The game worked just fine before the latest update, so i`m guesing i`ll have to wait and see what happens with the next update.

    ForceWare Release 90
    Version: 91.31
    Release Date: June 23, 2006
    WHQL Certified

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html

    Driver Installation Hints

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.

Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.
Can you delete/remove the update? I helped someone a few days ago with the same issue but their's was fixed with a new driver. I have heard that memory hack programs were somehow involved in this issue.

If you want to analyze your dump files you can do the following:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft

    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz

    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.

    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

Did you find any way to remove the last update?

It`s not possible. If I delete the folder, as soon as I run the game it downloads everything necesary to get GameGuard working. Trying to get the game to work without the latest GameGuard updates would be considered hacking anyway, actually it would be hacking.

I`m not worrying too much about these, right now. I will once there is a new update and the problem persists :P It`s just a bummer that I can`t play, it`s my favorite activity when i just want to pass time

This has happened to me once before, when i was downloading the maplestory patch. I double clicked it and the same thing happened but it showed the patch for a brief moment. The soulution i found was to start the patch manually from the maplestory file. So i think if there is no solution we can wait for the new patch to come, and then do it manually and maybe it work?
