this doesnt happen with all games but with most, the game jumps around alot, and stops and starts. The games it does it with that I have are, Total war, Mafia, Rainbow 6:3, GTA: Vice city and even TOmb Raider 2 the really old one. What coulod be the problem, I have a graphics card, Ge-Force 4 MX440, 2Ghz Processor, Win98SE, 256Mb RAM, is there any thing I may need to upgrade? Please help. or is it that my computer is just crap?

First you could try upgrading DirectX then upgrade your graphics card drivers. Let us know.

Hey D-A-L, at the moment my Dirext X version is 9.0b as far as I know the is pretty recent. So the problem is mainly my graphics card? Which one should I choose? I've been look and found one called, ATI Radeon Excalibur I think, I can't remember the number. Is this any good for gaming? or is there a better one?

What I meant was before you change the graphics card for a different one why don't you download and install the latest drivers for the existing card and see if this helps the gameplay ?

Hey I upgraded my driver and It did help a little, thanks for that, but it still isint running as well as it could. So I assume its my entire card that needs replacing. I mentioned an ATI Radeon a few posts ago, what do you think? could you suggest any other medium priced cards?

I used to have the same graphics card and it ran R6 3 & Tomb Raider 2 perfectly well when I was running an 800MHz Duron + 320MB RAM

Maybe you have too many applications running in the background? I found one of the main problems I used to have were things like Popup Blockers, Firewalls, etc slowing my games down - try closing any unused applications and see if that helps.

I got a G-force 4 GPU, and none of my games ran a tall, I took it back the same day i got it. Saphire with ATI Radeon 7000 GPU works fine, with both VGA and digital outputs. I hope this helps in some way.
