This is the page from MapleStory:
    Gr2D_Dx81.dll error
There are 2 common causes of "Gr2d" dll errors.

    a) Gr2D_Dx81.dll
    b) "Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"

    Gr2D_Dx81.dll
For Gr2D_Dx81.dll errors, please update your DirectX version to the latest. You can obtain the installation file from this link

"Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"
To fix this error, please install the video card driver that the manufacturer provides and not the default Microsoft version.

The following is a list of location of drivers for your video card.

    ATI
    https://support.ati.com/
    Nvidia
    http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
    Savage3D
    http://www.s3graphics.com/drivers.jsp
    http://www.s3graphics.com/legacy.jsp
    Voodoo 3
    http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/voodoo3/drivers.htm
    Voodoo4/5
    http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/voodoo5/index.htm
    Intel
    http://support.intel.com/support/gra.../CS-009482.htm
    Kyro
    http://www.powervr.com/Downloads/Drivers/index.asp
    Matrox
    http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...atest/home.cfm

Older graphic cards (Voodoo3, Savage3D, Kyro etc) may experience slowness or graphical glitches. This is to be expected as support for the video card may have ended. The only solution in this case is to upgrade your card.

    Laptop Owners
The recommended choice is to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of your laptop (eg. Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, IBM etc). You may install OEM/3rd party drivers if you are confident in trying them out.
    http://www.maplesea.com/support/technical.aspx#01

The latest DirectX 9.0c is here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Your motherboard drivers would be available at the manufacturers web site but this error is generally related to Graphics Card drivers. If your Graphics are on-board then this game will modt likely not play but you can try new drivers. You would need to ID your motherboard and search the manufacturers site for Downloads > Drivers.

This scan should ID the motherboard:

This issue is caused by either your graphics card or its drivers not being adequate for this game.

Post back this scan so we can see what's inside your box:

Unfortunately that scan is not returning much.

What is the history of this computer? Is it new? Do you know the make and model?

Was it recently formatted or rebuilt?

Look under the Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc under Display Adapters

    What is listed there?

Also try: start/Run/ dxdiag | Display

    What is the Device?

Also and very important you do not have any Service Packs on your computer. You should have at least SP1 and preferably SP2. You can get this at Windows Update via start > All Programs > Windows Update

You need to reload your graphics drivers but first off you need the Windows Updates.

Then see if you can ID your graphics card from my previous suggestions.

Click START then All Programs then Windows Update.

Under the Express tab you will probably see SP2. This will take some time to download depending on your connection type.

    After that:

Look under the Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc under Display Adapters

    What is listed there?

Also try: start/Run/ dxdiag | Display

    What is the Device?
