Microsoft recommends turning it on. I personally have it set to automatic download and notify but ask me to install.

SP2 is a large download. It will be at least a half hour if you are on DSL or Broadband. If dial-up you might want to get the CD from Microsoft.

SP2 is required for the most recent Graphics drivers plus your computer's security.

now i c it its express and custom and i pressed express

and one more thing is that when i went to run and type in dxdiag then i press display theres no name, no manufacturer, no chip type, no dac chip, approx. total memory-n/a, and no moninter.
only thing that is showing is the current display mode which is 800 times 600 16 bits 1 hz and thats all -__-
