I have a brand new PC with a MSI 6800GT PCI express. Trouble is at random times the screen becomes a complete mess. Even on boot up!! When it is fine it can run for hours with no problems but once the problems start it takes mutilple restarts to get any sense out of it. I am very confused, I believe the fault could be cack ram on the card but am unsure becasue it could well be the motherboard. I have just finished doing a thorough scan of the Motherboard RAM and everything looks fine. Any ideas of tests I can try out before I contact savastore (Watford) and tell em I've been sent crap. Please email me with any ideas.

My first guess would be heat on the Graphics Card.

As this is a brand new PC I would send it back and demand a working machine.

Trouble is this is a new thing that Watford are doing. Its called a DIY set, simply put all they do is send you all the kit to make the PC. They don't actually build it.

You could test it running with the case open. Check that the fan is working on the card.

Feel the air off the fan for any major heat. Try reseating the card.

All done and still the same. I've sent an email to them asking what they would like me to do, but there tech support is renowned for being cack.

you should try and do it using (i know this sounds silly) but using a desktop fan on the side of your case and see does this cool it down IF its heat but i would try and say they sent you something faulty whether they did or did not build the pc the sent you something thats defective demand a replacement and or a refund....or you could go out and buy a new card presuming its not the mobo and then get them to send you a new card and run them in sli thats what i would do lol
