I wish I had an easy answer but most of these issues deal with not having a Graphics Card that supports this game.

Were you ever able to play it on this computer?

You can test your 3D Graphics capability if you click the START button on the lower left of the screen > then click RUN > then type dxdiag then click Display.

You will see some 3D tests there. Let us know what they say.

Older graphic cards (Voodoo3, Savage3D, Kyro etc) may experience slowness or graphical glitches. This is to be expected as support for the video card may have ended. The only solution in this case is to upgrade your card.

Laptop Owners
The recommended choice is to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of your laptop (eg. Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, IBM etc). You may install OEM/3rd party drivers if you are confident in trying them out.

In the DIRECTX Display window click the buttons that say TEST 3D ...

If you mean that you had to reinstall Windows then you probably need two things:

1. Reinstall DirectX 9.0c

2. Reinstall your Graphics Card drivers.

For this we need to know what type of card you have. This should be listed under the DXDIAG | Display as Device. What is the Device?

i have the same problem about maplestory when i click display it said the system is using a generic video driver. Than it said direct 3D functionality not available. you should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. im using a laptop do you know whats the best video graphic card i can download ? can please help me ?

Most laptops have on-board graphics chips and are not upgradeable. There are a few exceptions.

What is the exact make and model of your laptop?
