    Help with F1 2002

    Hello all!

My name is Bhargav, and i have the full version of F1 2002 installed on my PC. However, the game just refuses to run beyond a certain point when the tracks are being loaded...i.e,it crashes to the desktop(skips over) after around 20% of a track has loaded.

All the preliminary menus do run however, and the problem crops up only when the actual game is to start..

    Here are my PC's specs---

    Windows 98
    Intel 810e chipset graphics driver
    DirectX9.0c
    191MB RAM
    600MHz processor,Pentium 3

Any help on how i can play this game and fix this frustrating problem??????

Ok....just did that......and the test results were Successful for DirectX 7 & 8,but apparently the driver doesn't support API,and hence the DirectX 9(although the software is installed) test was skipped. All the same,i think DirectX 8 is enough for this game ,isn't it?

    So.......what next??

    Bye!And thanks!

It is hard to tell if the Intel 810e chipset graphics is sufficient.

Do you have the latest driver? dxdiag should show your version.

    Is the driver version outdated?

Or maybe the problem lies with the 3D acceleration....any way i could update/correct this on the existing hardware??

    Your current driver
    Driver Name: i81xdw9x.drv
    Driver Version: 4.11.0001.1321 (English)
    DDI Version: 6
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    Driver Date/Size: 10/25/1999 14:33:34, 120596 bytes
    The latest is
    1. Graphics Driver [WIN9XE67.EXE, WIN9XM67.EXE] (4608KB) 6.7 8/23/2002
    Intel® 815 and Intel® 810 chipset family graphics driver.

Read Me (txt) Release Notes (html)

    OS:Windows* 95, Windows* 95 OSR 2.x, Windows* 98, Windows* 98 SE, Windows* Me
    http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...7&submit=Go%21
Read the Read Me for install instructions.

If the driver is not capable of 3D acceleration you would need to add a new card.

Thanks for that link...i did update my driver ....and Directx 9.0c is now up and running..

But now i have a new (and rather irritating!) problem......after the update i found that other games that i already had installed (such as the F1 Racing C'Ship 2000 demo) were running with a ridiculously low framerate---the game has become completely unplayable!
Its so slw that i keep running into the barriers at monaco and onto the gravel at Monza......
I tried changing the resolution and the detail levels, but the problem persists.....

    Help!!!

You have the option of Rolling Back the Driver via the Device Manager.

Right click the Device line then choose Properties | Driver then Roll Back the Driver.

Or perhaps try reinstalling the games.

is this the graphics card memory? -" Display Memory: 3.0 MB "

if so the game requires at least a 16mb card, sorry if I read it wrong...
