Weird crash while playing newer games
I've recently installed a refurbished ati radeon x800 pro. When I play newer games (bf2, age 3 demo, brothers in arms) that worked fine with my old radeon 9200 this weird crash will occur :
Shortly after launching the game, my monitor will go in standby mode as if the pc was off but the pc is clearly still on by the fans still running inside. The power and restart buttons on the pc no longer work after these crashes so the only way to reboot my "still running" pc is to turn off then on the power supply and/or power bar, then the pc will restart normally without any error messages.
I was told this was probably a power issue so I changed my old generic 350W power supply to an ISO 450W. This did not change anything.
Also, while playing "older" games (call of duty, need for speed underground) the crash will occur after a much longer period of time (~40 mins) or it won't occur at all.
Thanks.

Hi Leedsess, I'm having exactly the same problem as you. Games with lower quality such as sids meiers pirates or warcarft could be played without any problem. Where else the newer games like Dungeon Siege 2 and Fable would either go into standby mood immediately or after a period of time.
I'm using the latest drivers and my system does meet the minimum requirements of the game. I've tried all sorts of settings but it proves no avail at the end. I'm wondering if this problem is caused by the monitor since mine is pretty old already.
Anyway below are the specs of my CPU:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700
MSI 845PE
2.4 GHz
768 RAM
I hope you guys can help me in this! I really wish to play the latest games.
Thanks in advanced

Damn, took a while for first reply... Anyway, i fixed the problem... It was my video card (ati radeon x800 pro REFURBISHED), with warranty, I sent it back and the new one I got back works fine with all games.
I'm pretty sure the problem was that my card was not cooling itself sufficiently well, you might want to check that out...
Cheers.
