Does shutting down mean crashing to desktop? If yes then your system is supporting the game.Check its system requiresments and verify it with yours.

There might may some viruses which are not aloowing the program to run smoothly.Scan your computer for viruses and clean them and then try playing the game.

Then it may be a problem of your OS.Which one do you have?XP Home or XP Professional?I think the game will not work in XP Professional.

i've had both and had the same problem on both.
Why would they release a game not to work on a popular os.
