    Unhappy The Sims2

I bought the Sims2 yesterday, my computer meets all of the requirements...but I stick the game disc into my E: drive and it won't run, then I tried manually runnning it by going to run and typing in E:\Autorun (like the game told me to) yet it still didn't work, I tried going to My Computer and clicking the E: drive there and it still won't go. I put in the DVD-Edition and that works....what could be the problem? The drive sounds like it's trying to play, it speeds up then slows down...maybe I have a bad disc? please help!!!

Does it give you an error response?

My cousin is having this same problem with the sims 2. The problem is the DVD format. My moms machine is newer and has a DVD drive. It can load the game. So your problem isn't a bad disk but that your computer can't read the information on the DVD. I tried loading her DVD software on my machine but I still can't read it. Maybe someone else knows if you can get an older CD drive to read a DVD format and if so what software works. Hope this helps.

By the way there is no error message. The CD doesn't even aknowledge there is a disk in the drive. Anyone got any clues?

Perhaps the DVD/CD drive in question has a CD-ROM drive which is to slow to run the game? What is the DVD/CD specs in comparison to the DVD/CD specs that the game requires.
