Computer Game freezes with High Pitched Sound

My computer game, City of Heroes, is constanly freezing up. I will play for about five minutes each time and it will freez up with a high pitched tone that will not stop until I press the restart button on my machine. Anyone have any idea what may be causing the problem? I have had my Hijack This log checked, my dxdiag checked, both came up fine. I have no problem with spyware as I check it with MS antispyware, spyware blaster, Spybot S&D, and Ad-Aware and they come up clean. My video drivers are up to date but I do not know how to update my sound and motherboard drivers due to the fact that I am haveing trouble finding the official name of each. I have uninstalled the product and done defrag's and cleanups and they didn't help. I think I've exausted the help of the guys over at the CoH website. I am just frusterated that after everything I've done, nothing has seemed to be a permanent fix. I hope someone can give me some useful info on what may help fix my smurfin game. Thanks

Is this a new problem? Could you play this game before?

You might find this thread interesting although there is no solution there:

Can you open the case & determine the source of the sound?

Is it a beep like an alarm? or a mechanical sound?

The most likely thing would be a heat alarm on either the Graphics Card or the CPU.

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
