    Game crashing

everytime I try to play dvd games on my computer, the game will stop and I will be asked to send an error report to microsoft. The error report says that there was a problem with actofwar.exe. I don't know who to sort this out as I don't know much about computers, can anyone help?

Does your computer/ graphics card meet the minimum requirements for this game?

Check your graphics card via: Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display

What is your Device & Driver?

    Those errors indicate driver problems.

Your system should be fine for playing those games.

The latest VIA chipset drivers can be found here:

    http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2&Type=1
    Follow XP | Chipset Drivers
    VIA 4in1 Version - 4.56v 12 April 2005

If your RADEON 9200 is an ATI model the latest package is here:
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27

When updating your graphics drivers you need to uninstall the current version first from the Device Manager. As well as removing the entire Catalyst package from Control Panel | Add/ Remove Programs.

Do this in Safe Mode & have the latest Catalyst Package downloaded to your desktop so that you can install after you reboot.

    Hi

I've done this but the game is still crashing, although it did play for a bit longer than last time.

Is this a new computer? Did it ever play these games? Are there any other problems?

To check for more detailed error messages:

Look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a crash.

    Also:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your latest .dmp file.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your latest .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

That dump although driver triggered is also suggesting Memory Corruption.

Is this a new computer? Is it under warranty?

What is the make & model?

Do you feel comfortable in opening it up?

It's about 8mths old and is under warranty but I don't want to take it in unless I really have to. Is it difficult to fix?

computer now crashing and freezing all the time.
This is not a good condition for a relativly new machine.

You can try a RAM test:

    (OK fast): http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

    (Better slow): http://www.memtest86.com/

With good drivers & RAM my next step would be to open it up.
But at that point with a warranty I would take it back.

Have you any new dump logs?
