I just bought this new machine with the following hardware. Gigabyt ga-k8nxp-sli motherboard, Maxtor 6b160mo ata/133 and sata 150 harddrive, 3 gig of ddr400 ram, and a nvidia nx6600gt video card. For some reason it locks up everytime I try to play any battlefield game or joint operations game online. However I can play doom 3 online. Go figure. I have all the latest drivers and patches but still no go. What in the world is going on? If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Look in your event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details. Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a lock.

Well I only have one error in my applications. The source is application error and the event id is 1000. When this machine locks up it doesn't generate a error report like I have seen before. It totally freezes, cant do ctl,alt,del. cant do alt tab. All I can do is hit the power switch on the power supply. Thanks
