when i first installed my ati 9800 pro and installed an older version of catalyst, the games graphics were a bit discolored here and there and maybe 30-45 minutes the screen would go black. i updated the graphics card drivers and tried playing the game and the graphics were perfect but the game froze every couple seconds or couple minutes and the screen would go black and say "powering saving mode" and the monitor would turn off. i uninstalled ati catalyst and got omega drivers for it. and sometimes when i restart i get this thread stuck in device error: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response...a631965&SID=11
i have
MOBO: http://www.pcchipsusa.com/prod-m955gv30a.asp
intel p4 3.0 HT 800FSB
1024 RAM (ddr 266)
120GB maxtor HDD
i have
-updated the audio drivers/ tried disabling audio
-tried updating and flashing bios
-i cant "disable" my onboard VGA but pcchips says to set my primary display adapter to AGP not PCI in CMOS
-disabled hyper threading
-tried turning off hardware accelerator but that doesnt work gives me a "engine error: unable to init shader system"
-tried altering resolution..dont think that would really do anything the desktop fits perfect at 1280 x 1024 32bpp
heres the technical info i got when i restarted windows..
recovered from a serious system error

did you try this:
Error message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
also:
Error code 000000ea = "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER" - A device driver is spinning in an infinite loop, most likely waiting for hardware to become idle. This usually indicates problem with the hardware itself, or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. In many cases this is the result of a bad video card or a bad display driver.
Look in the Device manager and see if you have any (!) or(?) marks beside anything..
Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager
Why can't you disable your onboard chip?
This is usually neccessary to run your card properly.
i'd remove the drivers in add/remove programs. the uninstall the graphics cards (both) in device manager. (you might need to disable the onboard in bios as well)
reboot in safe mode.
run driver cleaner (READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST)
http://www.drivercleaner.net/
remove all lingering traces of ati and onboard drivers.
reboot normally
i have ! by ATI WDM Rage theater audio and two ! by unknown devices. the ! by the unknown devices says they aren't installed. the rage audio says it cannot start.
so i got them back working with no !, but the monitor goes black in a couple of minutes.
pcchips said some motherboards just dont give u the option, and i guess mine is one of them. and they said to just to set ur adapter to AGP not PCI in CMOS and set the sharing as low as possibleWhy can't you disable your onboard chip?
