ati2dvag.dll stopped responding
I recently upgraded to an AMD 64 3200+ cpu and a Gigabyte nforce3 motherboard and after I got it all up and running (having to reformat and reinstall windows) I went to test out any improvements in my games.
First up was World of Warcraft, started up fine and ran great...for about 10 minutes. Game locks up suddenly, and hard...numlock light ceasing to respond and all. After rebooting I try it again...no luck.
I decide to try Halflife 2 next thinking that I may just need to reinstall WoW. Again, the game starts up fine, but about 10 minutes in the screen goes black and the dreaded "cable not connected" message comes up on my monitor. The system is also still locked up as with WoW.
So after realizing the problem is not with one game, I reinstall the drivers for my Radeon 9600xt but to no avail. I reinstall old drivers, no luck. I reseat the card and everything in the system, nada.
I finally reformat and reinstall windows but I still get a problem...this time when WoW crashes I get an error: ati2dvag has stopped responding. Interesting. I decide that it might be my video card, so I put my friends old GeForce 3 in there and the game seems to run for a long time with no freezing.
So I thought I had isolated the problem, it must be my video card dying. Next day is out to Frys to buy another card, becuase of course my warranty with Newegg for my "broken" card is no longer valid. (Never ever ever ever buy OEM)
So with a new 9600xt in my hands (well..in the computer) I start the system up and run WoW...about 10 minutes in it freezes....I felt stupid.
So here I am with two 9600xt cards and no functioning gaming machine. I just don't understand what could be causing the problem anymore and am turning the The Internet for some help. I am beginning to suspect my new mobo and cpu...but I want to know if anything else could be the culpret before I RMA it back to newegg. Thanks.
Gigabyte K8ns Pro Motherboard
AMD 64 3200+ processor
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb video card
1.2 gigs of DDR400 3200 RAM
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card
(and yes I scanned for virii, have latest drivers, have latest directx, tried old video card drivers, tried omega video card drivers...nothin helped)

I have all the latest drivers installed after a reformat, and also it hasn't recently been giving me the error, but instead is locking up forcing me to reboot manually.

Go into your MB bios (Del or F2 depending on AMI or Phoenix) and reset your settings to Factory Default. Sounds to me like a timing issue on the AGP or PCI bus, I tried overclocking an Old nVidia Gforce 256 and what you describe is similar to my experience.
