    Call of Duty

    My Specs

    Processor: 2600+ Amd
    VideoCard 6800GT Nvidia
MotherBoard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...890&CatId=1136 (just to make it easier)

Whenever I play I get a constant drop in frames and basically its completly unstable, it goes from around 90+FPS to around 20 and all of my settings are on low, I've changes resolutions from 1024*768 to 800*640 and it doesn't improve anything at all. Also whenever I play for too long CoD (call of duty) just crashes.

I reformated completly and nothing has improved, any help would greatly be appreciated.

I absolutely love this game, but back to the topic, do you have all the requirements for the game?
    3D Hardware Accelerator Card required – 100% DirectX® 9.0a compatible 32MB Hardware T&L-capable video card and drivers*
    Pentium® III 700 or Athlon™processor or higher
    English version of Microsoft® Windows® 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP
    128MB of RAM
8x Speed CD-ROM drive (1200KB/sec sustained transfer rate) and drivers
181MB of uncompressed free hard disk space (plus 200MB for Windows swap file)
100% DirectX® 9.0a compatible 16 bit sound card and drivers
100% Windows® 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP compatible mouse, keyboard and drivers
    DirectX® 9.0a (not included)
When it crashes, do you get an error or a complete freeze? Maybe its a heating issue?
Also, try running the demo of the game to see if you have the same results.

    My specs completly

    AMD Athlon 2600+ 1.9ghz
    NVIDIA Geforce 6800GT
512MB Dual Channel OCZ DDR Ram
    DirectX 9.0b

    so on and so forth.

I just replaced my heatsink on my processor but it did no good, I also have 2 120mm fans inside of my case, and just put a house fan up to my MB to make things cooler and it still happens. I just get a message that CoD isn't responding anymore I hit ok and it just crashes.

Hi, well your system's definitely up to spec just as long as you have enough free hard disk space for swap files.

NVIDIA Geforce 6800GT - that's one of those new cards - right? Are you using the drivers supplied with the card and have you tried downloading a newer version from the NVIDIA website?

Unfortunately your video card is newer than the actual game and thus may not be supported (yet).

The first thing you want to do is update both your video and sound card drivers and then re-install Directx. Then update the game using the latest patch.

What sound card are you using? Try setting it to use Miles Postional Audio if your your using EAX as it may be your sound card drivers.

Do you get similar problems with any other games? And is it possible for you to get a temperature reading?

I don't really have many other games to choose from to test it out on.

I have a Creative Labs SB! Live 5.1 Sound Card, but I am not using the EAX sound option anyway, it just brought more lag into the game.

I just installed the latest Nvidia drivers but I was told to change them because they are released specifically for Doom.

I'll check back in after I install the drivers.

akkies, I don't think your motherboard has an AGP controller so a graphics card uprade may be out of the question i'm afaid. You could always try buying a PCI graphics card allthough these are more expensive, www.ebuyer.co.uk stock some decents ones, try something like a 5200 or 9200. Before you does this though check your BIOS settng s. In order to upgrade your graphics you MUST be able to disbale your on-board graphics first - no disable option = no upgrade.

Saying all that though you might be able to simply increase your on-board graphics card memory using the BIOS options, this may give your old system some extra life without having to spend a penny.

Let me know if you need more detailed info.
