Hey guys, I might have a clue to your problem!
Recently I have noticed my system crashing on all games as well. I still haven't figured out the problem as I do not have the funds to try some tests out. First I will give you my specs so you know whats up.
My computer is an MSI Micro ATX mainbourd with P4 2.4 gig processor.
It carries 3, 80 gig fujitsu hard drives.
Last but not least, the problem at hand! Two sticks of 256 Meg "DDR" ram!
I have used a Gforce 2 MX 40 but I have switched between many other cards for testing. Note that some were not made by NVIDIA!
So here is the clue is it may be! I have talked to a couple of technicians from around town and they all have somewhat the same answer.
Turns out that "DDR", has some issues. As it is a new technology, they claim that this new hardware is delicate. Much more than regular SD and such. A simple tap on the memory can sometimes be known to boch this stuff. Also, one major problem with this memory is that it was not designed with a buffer overflow safety. Thus the memory crops out when over used.
Anyway, rhis is all hear-say so don't quote me on that, but it is worth looking into. I do not know much about computers myself so I can't give the best advice. I myself cannot test this theory since I gave all my SD ram to a friend who I have not been able to reach. So I cannot do anything about this but if any of you have some spare SD ram, I suggest giving it a try.
Well, hope I helped out some way. If you figure this out, post it. I wish to figure this out for myself!
Thanks, Brian.
jjshriver does your pc screen flicker and go all glitchy??
I have a problem with my Sims games, Sims double deluxe and Sims 2. I used to play Sims double deluxe fine without problems, but it freezes after 10 minutes. So does Sims 2. I've had Sims 2 for months and I can't play it because it freezes after 10 minutes! I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB video card, 512 MB of ram and I use Windows XP..I don't know why it doesn't work and so far no one can help me, I'm pissed...
