PC crashes when playing most(nearly all) games

Re: PC crashes when playing most(nearly all) games

Hey guys, I might have a clue to your problem!
Recently I have noticed my system crashing on all games as well. I still haven't figured out the problem as I do not have the funds to try some tests out. First I will give you my specs so you know whats up.

My computer is an MSI Micro ATX mainbourd with P4 2.4 gig processor.
It carries 3, 80 gig fujitsu hard drives.
Last but not least, the problem at hand! Two sticks of 256 Meg "DDR" ram!
I have used a Gforce 2 MX 40 but I have switched between many other cards for testing. Note that some were not made by NVIDIA!

So here is the clue is it may be! I have talked to a couple of technicians from around town and they all have somewhat the same answer.
Turns out that "DDR", has some issues. As it is a new technology, they claim that this new hardware is delicate. Much more than regular SD and such. A simple tap on the memory can sometimes be known to boch this stuff. Also, one major problem with this memory is that it was not designed with a buffer overflow safety. Thus the memory crops out when over used.

Anyway, rhis is all hear-say so don't quote me on that, but it is worth looking into. I do not know much about computers myself so I can't give the best advice. I myself cannot test this theory since I gave all my SD ram to a friend who I have not been able to reach. So I cannot do anything about this but if any of you have some spare SD ram, I suggest giving it a try.

Well, hope I helped out some way. If you figure this out, post it. I wish to figure this out for myself!
    Thanks, Brian.

I have a problem with my Sims games, Sims double deluxe and Sims 2. I used to play Sims double deluxe fine without problems, but it freezes after 10 minutes. So does Sims 2. I've had Sims 2 for months and I can't play it because it freezes after 10 minutes! I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB video card, 512 MB of ram and I use Windows XP..I don't know why it doesn't work and so far no one can help me, I'm pissed...

I recently formatted(about a week ago) and installed all current drivers. My hard drive has plenty of free space on it and I've run ad-aware and mcafee, yet my problem still exists . Any chance this could be a hardware issue?

I recently had simillar problems on my friends pc with call of duty united offensive after trying out everything in the book, and more ,i traced the problem back to a dvd rewriter being installed, at around the time the problem occurred ,so after disconecting the dvd wrewriter it worked fine, allthough i dont believe it was the wrewtiter that was the actual problem on its own ,the tiny amount of power it had drawn from the psu was enough to cause problems, so try and remember if there have been any hardware changes on your machine since your problems started or if you are running multiple drives maybe try disconnecting 1 or 2 to free up some power i have allso heard that new drivers can draw tiny amounts of current from psu just enough to mess things up when playing games i hope this can be of some help to you
