Broadband disconnecting
HI everyone,
yet another problem,
Often when I connect to the internet, the connection drops and when I try to reconnect I have to wait a minute or so to reconnect - it says it cannot detect a dial tone yet the phone works fine. Callback is disabled, but there is some roadworks outside messing around with gas pipes - could it be them ****ing about with the lines?
I'm on Tiscali broadband if it's any help,
many thanks for any insights

Well, I'm not too sure about their ISP services but I do know that their email services are very unreliable
You might find that the problem is with your ADSL filter (the little adaptor cable that goes between your ADSL modem and the telephone lead ... or between the telephone extension lead and the BT wall socket). Try replacing it with another. Most people will have a separate ADSL filter on their phone so that could be swapped over to test it.
Also, low quality telephone line extension leads can provide unreliable connections like this. Same goes for long leads. 15ft is a typical cable length, 30ft isn't uncommon but, if you're trying to run it a long way, then it might be too long for a stable connection to be maintained all the time.
