    Re: windows 2000 upgrade shenanigans

Yeah it's the value of a music collection that matters, so I will be patronising Novatech and getting a nice budget system. It'd kick the pants off the old one anyway and cost far less than the original, I'm just worried about the feasibility of even accessing the old drive, I mean it doesn't recognise the 2000 CD, it always does the same thing, just about to start after 2000 has loaded the installation and looks like it'll just finish the process, then flashes blue and restarts. The CD apparently has no effect so if I cant access and copy any of it, I can at least have 5 minutes of fun with an axe and something explosive.

Once you've got a clean install of Win2000 loaded on the new PC, you'll be able to pop in the old hard disk as well (as a "slave drive") and then you'll be able to copy the music files off it - you won't need to have Windows working on the old drive as well if it's just the data that you want to access

I had a similar problem with my monitor as well. I performed the D-A-L.com Online Hardware Scan but I don't think it says anything helpful about my video card. What should I do? Here it is anyway.
I believe these are the only relevant outputs of the scan.

Hi, this thread was running 18 months ago. Please start a new thread in the forum to explain your problem as the answers to problems that initially appear to be similar are actually almost always different.

The scan is not detecting your video card because it is "on-board" (it is integrated into the motherboard rather than being a separate card) and, for some reason, the scan didn't identify your motherboard.

I shall now close off this old thread but please feel free to post a new thread if you would like further assistance.
