new computer wont boot
well heres my problem. i have a new computer runing windows 2000 and its ran fine for the last couple of days. then yesterday, the computer would not start up. it reaches the screen where it says "press del for cmos" and other options but then it just hangs there. i press del to enter cmos, and it says "entering cmos" and then just hangs. i tried reseting the cmos via jumpers and that did not work. nothing was changed the day before exept that i hooked its dvd drive up to my main computer to install something. i put the drive back and it wouldn't boot. if my system specs will help then ill provide them, so jsut ask......thanks in advance for any help that anyone can offer.

This kind of thing happens when you have incorrectly configured jumpers on drives, etc. With IDE/Serial ATA drives, for example, make sure that the master is at the top of the chain, and the slave is in the middle.

Did you re-install the drive properly?
Ribbon red edge towards the power cable etc.?
Just as a test; will the machine boot if you leave the DVD out?
Do you think you "dislodged" anything else while you were moving the DVD drive?
Being a New Computer I wouldn't do too much, as you always have the option to "take it back".

Does the DVD drive open and close and make noise at startup? It could be dodgy power cable
