    No they are essential

Can get windows up at all?

    If Yes

Put a floppy disk in your floppy drive
Click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools, and then click Backup.
On the Tools menu, click Create an Emergency Repair Disk.

Restart your computer with the floppy disk still in the drive

    Choose the Recovery console option

at the a:\> prompt, type copy autoexec.nt C:\winnt\system32\autoexec.nt

Take the floppy disk out and reboot the computer

Hijack this is a diagnostic tool, not an identifier and eliminator

I would suggest that you delete those files and then post a Hijack this log in security

I am having the same problems with the autoexec.nt issue. I followed the instructions, tried to restart and the errormessage at DOS indicating I had a disk in the drive (as instructed to do). I still am not able to get the computer to copy the copied disk. Ideas?

dogflyr, please start a new discussion rather than hijacking another member's post, please read the forum rules. To read the entire forum rules please click HERE, Thanks

Please do not Hijack other members posts. For example, if you are browsing the forum and see a member has posted a question with a problem very similar to your own, PLEASE DO NOT post in the same thread and say "I have this problem also! please help!"
Instead simply click the new thread button and ask your question in your own thread. There are a ton of reasons for this but the main one being that although your problem sounds the same, it will most likely require a different solution.

    ASR Wizard
    Catalog a Backup File

Since your posting in a forum called "Windows 2000" and since theres a forum called "Windows XP" and since the forum rules tell you not to post in another members thread, your chances of response are slim.
