hp 7960 software
after 7 tech support chats I finally got the printer software stabilized in windows me. only problem is the included editing/printing software won't install. anyone know of a way of installing just the editing/printing software from the cd without having to un install the printer drivers. tia

If you stop the autorun on the cd and browse through it can you find a setup.exe for the editing/printing software?

unfortunately I couldn't but I did figure out how to get it to load them. when you uninstall the drivers it does not uninstall the photo software dirs and they fool the install program. you must manually delete them for it to do a full install. I also wish these programmers would make a more selective install program like in norton utilities 2003

Two things I have found out about HP Photosmart printers is that they DEMAND a clean boot and they won't work through a USB hub (even a powered USB 2 hub).
To get a good install on the printer software (and some of the extras) you have to click "Start>Run" and then type msconfig and click OK. On the general tab, click the "Selective start up" and uncheck the "Load start up items", then reboot. After windows loads, run the install CD and don't connect the printer until you are promted to do so. I know it seems like a lot, but I went through hell with the first Photosmart I installed, and then had problems uninstalling what did get on my hard drive. After you get done, run msconfig again and click "Normal start up - load all device drivers and software".
