Are you trying to open the file in the same version of Excel that you created it in? On the same PC?

Do other Excel files open OK?

Take a backup of it on removable media (floppy disk / CD / USB drive, etc) and then try doing a repair install on Excel. If you don't know how to do that, we can talk you through it.

What version of Excel are you running? Are you able to get access to a later version (perhaps on someone else's PC) to try and open the file?

Hi.I am sorry for the delay.Yes i am trying to open the file in the same version.I also tried it on other PC.And all other excel files are opening.

My version of excel is 9.0.7616.I didnt try with the later version.

I dont know the repair install procedure.I will be very happy if anyone can guide me through it.

OK, if you've tried opening the file on a different PC, then doing a repair install on your copy of Excel 2000 is unlikely to make any difference

Do you have access to a PC running Office XP or Office 2003? Later versions of programs are sometimes better at correcting slightly corrupted files.

Failing that, you might be able to take a copy of it and open it as a text file or something - open Excel, go to File > Open and change the file type to a text file. Or you could try opening it in Windows Notepad - it will look a mess but you might be able to recover any text from the spreadsheet.

What's the filename of your file and it's full path? ie:

    c:\windows\somewhere\else\myfile.xls

Does Excel ask for the password? are you typing the correct password in?

    This may help:
