Internet Explorer Failure
Hello. I have just installed a fresh copy of Windows 2000 on my computer. It didn't pick up on a driver for my Ethernet Card, but I installed it from a disk, and it says that it's working fine. I tried opening my Internet Browser, and after about half an hour of loading the page, an error came up, saying that the "Server was reset." (or something similiar to that- I hope that helps.) Now, I only have to wait about 5 minutes before recieving this error. Just to let you know, I am on a LAN. I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem, but maybe it might be messing things up. The Internet is working fine on everyone else's computers.
Thank You.

Is your internet connection going through a server? Sounds like you need to set the Proxy Server settings on the Connections tab of the Options screen in Internet Explorer. If you don't know what to set the settings to, check them on someone else's PC and enter the same configuration on yours.

Incidentally, if you have an IT guy, he should be able to set this up in a flash.

My computer just started working by itself like normal. So I didn't have to do anything to fix it. But thanks for the help anyways!

Ah, the self-fixing problem - often baffling but typically just as satisfying !
