On my compaq presario 5000 with WinMe...when I try to download software I get a message: "Reinstall AOL. You may also go to AOL. Keyword:companion help. error occured locating AOL Companion XML.File. I have exhausted myself going to AOL and google without a solution. Can you help me with this?

Are you trying to install AOL or download stuff using it? What version of aol are you using? I'm asking because accroding to the system requirments the newest version is only supported on XP, vista, and 7. For 98SE and higher you need to have v 9.0. Since you aren't clear on your problem I don't know if this is the cause. Please be more clear on your situation and keep in mind the system requirments. ME is too out of date to be running new software and it is no longer supported by microsoft. It never was a good system anyway. MS broke it and they didn't even try to fix it.

I am running aol 8.0. It was already installed when I bought the computer. I just need to know how to repair it. I tried to download the aol 9.0 but was refused....the software was not supported by ME. I have since downloaded 8.0 software from "Old Versions" but I am waiting to install it until I hear that I "SHOULD"
