Virus. No Internet connection. cd?
Hi,
I posted a message here last night but can't seem to find it. I have an old computer windows me edition and it has got a virus. It is no longer able to be connected to the internet but I would like to clear the virus so it can be used again. Is there anyway that I can get an antivirus on cd ? If not is there anything else I can do to clean it up as my parents would like to use this computer. It is still in working order but I don't want to spend lots of money as it has a very small memory.

We are not allowed to help with malware in this section. Please read this & post another thread here.

Perhaps I should rephrase that then. It was online originally until I upgraded to a new laptop and wireles connection. It caught the virus when I was originally online and then since then it has been disconnected and packed away until now. Hope that makes sense

So why did you post twice for the same problem? That generally isn't necessary as your threads will get noticed regardless of the number of times places they are posted but it is more work for us if you post more than once. In addition it could create confusion for everyone with posts going on in 2 different threads on the same problem. For those reasons double posting is discouraged. Plus virus problems are only to be discussed in the malware section. If you have multiple issues due to the sensitive nature of malware if I where you I would typically worry about those problems first provided your computer does boot into windows.

Isn't this meant to be "friendly" computer help.
I will go to the malware section and post again. I was only replying to the comment made above, so that they would understand what I asked. I wouldn't have posted twice if I could find my original posting which wasn't where I placed it the night before, so I assumed it had been moved or deleted. That is why I did it again. Actually so far it seems to have been "unfriendly" help, with more interest being paid to how many times I posted and where, rather than trying to help me with the problem.

I'm sorry if I offended you. I feel like I should explain myself better. Due to the sensitive nature of viruses/spyware they only want users to post those problems in that section because only approved personnel can help out in that section for your protection. That is why I can't post any advise on your problem even though this thread isn't in there. I can't move your thread otherwise I would so that leaves me only being able to advise that members should repost when I find a misplaced malware related post. I'm sorry if that sounds cold but those are the rules.
Now as for finding your thread you should be able to find all the threads you have posted on in the User CP which is linked near the upper right hand corner. Initially only those with recent replies are shown so you might have to click on View all subscribed threads if what you are looking for doesn't show up. I hope that helps. Now good luck.
