I got my old hp 7855 up and running (I had to delete everything on the harddrive and reinstall the partitions).

It has a 'realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter'
I haven't updated anything, everything is as it was when it came off the shelf in in like 1999 or whenever I got it.

I know the computer can connect to the internet, because (several years ago) I had it connected to my comcast internet.

Today I have verison fios, I can't seem to connect the hp7855 to the internet. Everything else seems to be working fine. Not sure what the problem is or how to go about fixing it. I looked in the device manager and it says there are no problems with the ethernet adapter and I tried going through the 'automatic internet setup' thing they have to no avail.

help please.
