I know this is a graphcis card issue i have a standard pci graphics adater (VGA) i ahd to remove it ebucas ei got another one that ende dup defected and now i cna't get this one to work im running a dell windows 98 second edition on a P3 processer if theres anythign else u ened ot help don't hesitate to ask but i would really like to get my graphics abck up all i ahve is one display setting and 2 color choices 16 colors and 2 colors ive reinstalled ofmr the omputer but that didn't owkr i need to get onto the games i have i own a clan on battle.net and im always eneded plz help

Ok go to control panel/system/device manager and click on the + beside display adapters. What does it say in there, just standard pci graphics adapter?

Try going back to the device manager and click on the standard pci graphics adapter, click properties then driver/update driver and try to get windows to search for a better driver.

Different PCs will have different graphics cards and different graphics cards will need different driver files. The 'Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)' is Windows' way of saying "I've no idea what you're graphics card is, so I'll install this bog-standard driver file that's compatible with pretty much all of them ... just to get you started". You really need to get the right driver for your graphics card.

Looks like the only way you'll find out what graphics card you've now got fitted is to open the PC and have a look at the card. Make a note of the make and model number (e.g. ATi Rage 128 Pro) and then obtain the driver from DriverGuide.com or the manufacturer's web site. Alternatively, many cards have an FCC ID number - this is a unique ID that you can type into the DriverGuide.Com web site and it will allow you to find driver files that are definitely designed for that exact graphics card.
