Server vs. online options?

Server vs. online options?
Hi-
First, let me say that I am server ignorant. I have a client who has a small office of 4 employees. Currently, they have a small server in the office (I think he said it was around 20 GB). I know they use it for document storage and remote retrieval. It is beginning to fail them, plus they have to dial-in to it to access it remotely. Anyhow, they want to replace it. I was thinking they may be better off with a virtual server (hope I'm using the right word). I found some companies such as APlus.net, ThePlanet.com, IWeb8.com that offer the storage for a monthly fee, but they seem really expensive.
Is it possible that they could use PCNow, LogMeIn, GoToMyPC or LapLink as a solution or should they get a new server? They have no in-house tech support, so would need to pay someone to maintain the server.
Thanks for any thoughts on this,
Anne

Hi-
I'm posting this on multiple boards as I'm not quite sure where it belongs, sorry for the redundancy.

Please only post this here.
If someone has a response they will reply.
Thanks.

I would suggest a new Master PC to replace the server at that small level of network.
500GB hard drives are very common now and most PC's will take 3 to 6 of them internally. Plus you can RAID them for automatic backup.
Then use GoToMyPC or equivalent. I mention them as that is what I use to bridge office > home > accountant > etc.

Great suggestion, but I have a few GoToMyPC questions: If someone is working on the new master PC, is it still able to be accessed by someone else remotely? I assume that the host PC has to be physically turned on? Also, what is the advantage of GoToMyPC over using the Remote Desktop option in XP Pro?
Thanks so much!

The ON question is yes. Whether GoToMyPC or XP Remote the host needs to be on and on-line for access.
Here are overviews:
GoToMyPC
XP Remote Desktop
I have never used the latter but from a brief glimpse one advantage of the former is no setup required on every computer.
With XP you need to establish a VPN connection on each computer.
I would have to read more to see more distinctions.
With GoToMyPC starting with the Pro version multiple users can use the host simultaneously.
