    FTP Using Wrong NIC

I have a machine running Win2K server. NIC1 has a 10.10.10.X addressing. NIC2 has 192.168.12.X addressing. I use NIC2 just to offload backup data so NIC2 has no Gateway or DNS entries. Everything is happy in this setup.

I have the same setup on a Win2K3 server. Problem is, whenever ftp is called it tries to connect on NIC2 instead of NIC1 so it errors out every time.

Any ideas what might cause this?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Good news - I figured it out. Here's the answer if anyone out there cares :yippee:

Open Network Connections. Go to the "Advanced" menu item and click on "Advanced Settings". The NICs are listed with the order in which they are accessed by network services. In my case, NIC2 was listed first followed by NIC1. I reversed them and everything is happy - wahoo!
