    BIOS Password or Windows Password?

If BIOS you can try clearing the CMOS.

If Windows you will need to reinstall Windows or else remember the password.

If it were a BIOS password then you would get it as soon as you turn on the computer. You would not be able to do anything without it.

If you can Install Windows you are beyond the BIOS.

And if you Installed Windows (via a Clean Install) all passwords would have been erased.

Where exactly are you being asked for a password?

What exactly are you doing when asked for a password?

In general clearing the CMOS will set the BIOS to default which should remove any BIOS password. Although some older motherboards have switches onboard.

Clearing the CMOS depends on your motherboard. Do you know the make and model of your motherboard or do you have the manual? Or the make and model of the computer?

In general you temporarily remove the motherboard battery and also short the CMOS jumpers (if relevant). The exact process is dependent on the motherboard.
